When will I know if I am admitted to the course?

  • Your application and qualifications will be checked by the safescimet student office managed by the University of Konstanz.
  • Within 14 days, you will be informed by the student office about the outcome of the review, i.e. if meeting the qualification criteria for the course, and we will send you an invoice. You are required to pay the course fee in order to be registered as course participant.
  • When we have received your payment, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from the student office that you are registered for the course.
  • Dependent on the registered student number, running of the course might be postponed. Therefore do not book your hotel and flight transport accommodation until 4 weeks to the course start date, as hotel and flight cost remuneration by safescimet participants is not possible.
  • When you have been registered, information about and password to the safescimet Moodle virtual classroom will be provided. Moodle is uses for all further communication between course participants and the course leader and teacher(s).

Why do I need to upload documents to the course?

The safescimet course modules are open to all graduates and scientists from industry, academia and regulatory agencies. You normally possess a MSc degree in a Life Science discipline or equivalent. In addition, you are expected to have at least one year’s work experience in a related discipline. For other participants no formal entrance requirements are set, although a scientific background with at least an honors degree level is recommended.

Thus, there are no strict requirements for you to up-load documents asked for in the application form. Nonetheless, we please you to do so, since this is important for continously improving safescimet.

When and how to pay the course fee?

When you have been accepted to the course you will receive an e-mail with your invoice. You are responsible for paying the course fee after being accepted. Read more about the safescimet fees.

When will the course fee have to be transferred?

Well in advance of the course start: see your invoice for details.

What is the safescimet master's programme and degree?

Read more about the MSc degree. Please note: the Master of Science (MSc) in Advanced Safety Sciences for Medicines is a continuing education programme. Admission to the Master exam requires successful completion of 15 Master modules and a first Master degree (300 ECTS). The modules are subject to charge. What is Moodle?

Moodle is a learning management system that provides you informations, documents or discussion forums to support your courses. We are using Moodle because of its easy to learn interface and because it is a fast-growing open-source concept.

How is safescimet founded?

safescimet is supported financially by Bayer, Roche, Sanofi. The safescimet courses are financed by course fees from participants.

If I am a resident outside Europe, any special requirements to attend safescimet courses?

You may need a Schengen Visa for the country where the course is given, at least 4 weeks before the start of the course. In order to get a visa contact the Embassy of the course country. The Embassy may require a letter of acceptance from the safescimet Student Office. If a letter would be needed, contact the student office, which will also need to know who is responsible for paying the course fee.

Can I enrol after registration deadline?

What about cancellation?

I would like to cancel my registration more than 14 days before course start

Registrations cancelled more than 14 days before the course start will be refunded except for a fee of 250 EUR. The cancellation fee contributes to administration costs incurred. The refund will be made by bank transfer and all bank charges will be for the course participant’s bank account.

I would like to cancel my registration less than 14 days before course start

No refunds of course fees will be given for cancellations made less than 14 days days before the course start. Payment of the course fee remains obligatory.

I would like to substitute

When the course participant is unable to attend it is possible to transfer the course fee to another safescimet course in one year following the originally booked course. It is also possible to transfer the course fee to another person from if this person is meeting the qualification criteria for the course. All substitution requests should be sent timely before the course start to the student office. The replacement course participant’s email, full name, and affiliation must be stated.

What das happen in case of course postponement/cancellation?

If safescimet postpones a course for any reason and the registered participant is unable to attend on the rescheduled date, the participant will be fully refunded by bank transfer. If safescimet cancels a course for any reason the registered participant will be fully refunded by bank transfer as well.

Do I have to take the exam on the last day of the on site course (first week)?

No but depending on the certificate they are aiming at (CPD or ECTS credits), students can choose to take part in the examination or to undertake the home assignment, both together however being a requirement for receiving the academic ECTS credits transcript.
